Last week, JOOLA was invited to be a part of Hunter Pence’s first annual Let’s Go Eat: Food and Fun Fest. Despite his demanding schedule, Hunter, a Philadelphia Phillies’ baseball player, dedicated time to run a charity event benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia, Philabundance, and Phillies Charities. The event was hosted on the Moshulu, a ship built in 1904 that has since been converted into a floating restaurant at Philadelphia’s Penn’s Landing.
The “Food & Fun Fest” was true to its name: Participants were presented with delicious food and refreshing drinks, including local favorites such as Philly cheesesteaks and soft pretzels. In addition, guests were entertained all night long with Fruit Ninja on Xbox gaming stations, Sholf (a backyard game combining shuffleboard and golf), and of course, table tennis! Even Phillies players,Shane Victorino, Cole Hamels, Pete Orr, Chase Utley, Ty Wigginton, Lee Mayberry Jr., Vance Worley, Kyle Kendrick, Jose Contreras, and Antonio Bastardo, came to enjoy the festivities.
During the table tennis tournament, the finals came down to Hunter and Jarret Loux, a Make-A-Wish recipient, who defeated Hunter in an exciting match and claimed the championship title!
The event was a huge success, raising awareness and funds for the charities. Ticket sales, two silent auctions, celebrities, and charity representatives all helped make an impact. JOOLA is very grateful that it was able to contribute to such an honorable cause and even more excited to meet people who #pongforgood.
