JOOLA is excited to be a part of motivating young table tennis enthusiasts with HW Global Foundation’s Talent Development Program.
The Talent Development Program started in September 2015 with ten juniors under the direction of four professional level coaches at the Maryland Table Tennis Center. In order to apply, each junior had to be between the ages of 7-10 and personally recommended by a coach. Once selected, both the child and his/her parents had to commit to work hard at the program in order to succeed.
Every Sunday, the group dedicates 1.5 hours to work on table tennis techniques and coaching tactics. During the week, the juniors are given training assignments such as footwork drills or personal reflection journals to advance their skills.
JOOLA has donated the team uniforms and sports gear as well as contributed to the foundation’s scholarship fund and is happy to join forces with an organization that holds similar outlooks and values to our own. According to HW Global, the goals of the Talent Development Program are to “recruit children who are interested in table tennis, to help them develop physically, mentally, emotionally and socially so that they may reach their full potential in the Olympic sport of table tennis.”
As the Olympic sport of table tennis continues to grow, we hope to contribute to more programs like the Talent Development Program. If you’re interested, reach out to us on Facebook.
