WHIPPANY, NJ – Matchpoint Table Tennis Center (MTTC), a new professional table tennis academy in New Jersey, held its grand opening on March 16th, 2019 and was met with much enthusiasm by the local community.
Matchpoint’s mission is to provide rigorous professional table tennis training to players of all ages and levels, but especially to develop school-age players who demonstrate a passion, talent, and commitment for the sport.
The club is owned and operated by Coach Li, a former Chinese national team member and current U.S. National Coach. He has the distinction of training two U.S. National team members, the North America Junior Boys Champion, the U.S. Open Junior Team and Hopes Girls Champion.
The grand opening was attended by more than 100 people, including the Deputy Mayor of Hanover Township, John L. Ferramosca, and Steven Chan from JOOLA. “Our grand opening had a great turnout,” said Coach Li. “Advanced level players of all ages played in our opening tournament and a few grade school players even defeated their adult competitors!”
The 5,000 square foot club is outfitted with all JOOLA equipment, including 9 JOOLA 3000SC competition tables, complete with barriers and balls. Coach Li thanked JOOLA saying, “JOOLA’s generosity was evident everywhere, from the equipment to the very cool JOOLA fleece jackets worn by Matchpoint’s coaches.” The club’s activities, such as leagues, tournaments, and training camps are sponsored by JOOLA as well. MTTC’s on-site pro shop also exclusively carries JOOLA equipment.
Coach Li himself has been sponsored by JOOLA since early 2018. “When we decided to work with him last year, we knew we could expect great things from Coach Li. We wish him well in his new endeavors in the new club and JOOLA is proud to support him,” said JOOLA President Richard Lee, adding, “Coach Li is an excellent coach who has the potential to develop young table tennis talent into phenomenal players.”
Matchpoint Table Tennis Center is a full-time table tennis club with league play for several playing levels and open play for recreational players. The dedicated coaching team has 3 coaches offering private coaching, group training, and after school programs. In addition to their JOOLA setup, the facility has 15-foot high ceiling, non-glare lighting and tournament-grade rubber composition flooring.
