For the third year running, JOOLA will be sponsoring Paddlestar Gallactica at U Street Music Hall in Washington, DC. This table tennis tournament benefitting 826DC, a nonprofit organization that supports students ages 6-18 in developing their creative and expository writing skills, will have fundraising teams dressing up and competing for a first place trophy and bragging rights.
Here’s how it works:
This year’s goal is to raise $25,000 for 826DC that will go towards drop-in tutoring, field trips, after-school workshops, in-school tutoring, help for English language learners, and student publications assistance. Right now, they’re only half of the way there, but they’ve exceeded their fundraising goals in the years before. Each fundraising team has the month of March to raise as much as they can. The more money they fundraise, the more “cheats” they can purchase on the day of the tournament to win the competition! All teams will be dressing up because not only will there be a first place trophy, but also because there will be prizes awarded to “Best Uniform” and “Bling Pong” for the team that fundraises the most money!
JOOLA will be providing four JOOLA 3000-SC table tennis tables, rackets and balls for the bracket-style competition as well as running the tournament logistics.
Join JOOLA, 826DC, and spectators on Sunday, March 29th, 2015 at 1PM as fundraising teams cheat and compete at U Street Music Hall in Washington, DC. Don’t forget to donate on 826DC’s website!
