Richard, the owner and founder of JOOLA North America, has been involved with table tennis for over 20 years. A native of Potomac, MD, his experience includes being a former junior national champion, a tournament director, tournament sponsor, and even a club founder. Before he graduated with a Computer Science degree from Johns Hopkins University, Richard founded North American Table Tennis (NATT), the first and only professional event planning company focused on operating table tennis events. Richards hands-on approach in growing JOOLA North America has enabled the company to grow so explosively in its first few years of existence.
Born and raised in Potomac, Maryland, Wendy graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Psychology and was an accomplished young swimmer. When Wendy married Richard, no one is sure whether or not she knew she was committing her life to table tennis too. Two kids later, she manages the accounting department and handles accounts payable. She also supports the marketing team when they need an extra designer and keeps the office kitchen stocked full of goodies!
Tom, a self-proclaimed table tennis addict, got his start in the sport during his college years at Penn State. After graduation, Tom moved to the DC area from his native Lebanon, PA to join North American Table Tennis (NATT), which runs professional table tennis tournaments all over the US. A few years later, the NATT team decided to become the North American distributors of the JOOLA brand and a new company was born! With a BA in Integrative Arts, Toms main responsibilities at JOOLA center around marketing, business development, and graphic design. However, he has been known to deliver a table or two for a last minute sale!
Mike, a graduate of Brigham Young University with a BS in Business Management, heads the sales team at JOOLA North America. Growing up in Arlington, VA, he was a Junior Olympic Gold Medalist and Junior National Champion as a kid. He even went to Sweden to train! Mike has always demonstrated an interest in sports and sales. Before coming to JOOLA, Mike handled sales for a golf equipment company, but couldnt fight the desire to get involved with table tennis again!
Born in DC and raised in Potomac, MD, Katherine played competitive table tennis for over a decade. A former member of the US Junior and Collegiate National Team, she graduated from the University of Michigan with BA in Political Science and Psychology. During a brief hiatus from table tennis, she went to work in both the public and private sector before deciding to come back to help grow the sport. At JOOLA, she is mainly responsible for marketing, branding, sponsorships, and PR efforts, though she also handles some sales accounts.
Tillie is JOOLAs first intern-turned-employee! Though she was born in Rockville, MD, she spent seven years living in Taiwan before coming back to the US to finish high school. She graduated from The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), with a degree in Information systems, and we were all delighted when she chose to come back and begin her career with JOOLA! As the COO, Tillie has a hand in everything, including integration, data migration, technical support, logistics, and web design. Most importantly, she keeps our warehouses and satellite offices in the loop with whats going on!
Born and raised in Alabama, Jonathan received a degree in marketing from The University of Alabama (He also insists that 2009 National Champions be included here). As an account executive, he handles many of our North American accounts and has been instrumental in bringing JOOLA to where it is today. When hes not busy providing amazing customer service, he claims that he is beating Mike in golf (Mike denies this).
A recent convert from being a JOOLA-sponsored player/coach to a JOOLA account executive, Steven moved from Los Angeles to join the company. Also a former member of the Junior National Team, Steven definitely knows his table tennis and is one of our equipment gurus. At JOOLA, Steven handles Professional Line Sales and is the main contact for table tennis clubs in North America. Steven has a background in economics and business, which he hopes to combine with his table tennis knowledge, to better serve table tennis players across the nation.
Becky joined JOOLA in 2010 and has been a valuable asset ever since. Using her background in Visual Communications, Becky is able to support the marketing team by producing designs that make the companys vision something tangible. Her main duties include graphic design and marketing. She is also the company candy supplier and fulfills the teams sugar cravings with her M&M dispenser. Originally from Hamburg, Pennsylvania, Becky now lives in the suburbs of DC.
Mary, born and raised in Venezuela, has an educational background in Business Administration, but specializes in accounts receivables and payment processing for JOOLA North America. Mary first got involved with NATT through her husband, who is a recreational table tennis player. She also works for North American Table Tennis (NATT), a partner company of JOOLAs, as the Adminstrative Coordinator. Here, she handles registration and assists in organizing the draws for NATTs major events, which can accommodate up to 1000 participants! In her free time, she loves the outdoors and spends as much time as possible with family.
Born in DC, but raised in Rexburg, Idaho, Matt received a degree in Chinese from the University of Utah. At JOOLA, he is responsible for business development, sourcing, and inventory management, so he s
plits his time between his home in Utah, our offices in Guangzhou, China, and our home base in Rockville, Maryland. Matt was a basement player growing up, but was introduced to the competitive side of table tennis in college, and hes been addicted ever since! He also enjoys skateboarding and jumping off of waterfalls (we dont recommend trying the latter).
