JOOLA is teaming up with 826DC for the fourth annual Paddlestar Galactica on April 3. The tournament will take place at U Street Music Hall from 12-4 p.m. If you’re a table tennis enthusiast and haven’t been, you’re missing out! Not a player? Come have some drinks and support the cause by sponsoring a friend.
All proceeds will benefit 826DC, DC’s local chapter that supports children ages 6-18 by shaping their writing skills and encouraging creativity. 826DC provides children with the unique opportunity to embrace writing in an approachable, fun way through field trips and after school programs. As everyone knows, JOOLA is a big supporter of fun and we want to help support learning in any way we can!
So, how does the tournament work and how can you get involved?
You still have the opportunity to support a player. There will be the last weekly practice on March 28 at Comet Ping Pong at 6 p.m. where the contestants will show off their skills and prove who should earn your support. At each practice, that week’s top fundraiser will earn a prize and you have the opportunity to be a part of their success!
JOOLA will be providing multiple JOOLA 3000-SC table tennis tables, rackets and balls for the bracket-style competition as well as running the tournament logistics.
When the tournament arrives on April 3, make sure you show up to U Street Music Hall in DC for a good time and an epic table tennis battle. Not every player is a pro so make sure to look out for the three parts we’re most excited about:
- Intro Theme Song and Moves – table tennis players are notoriously bad dancers
- Best Uniform Award – fingers crossed for bejeweled paddles
- Bling Pong Award – rewarded to the player that raises the most money for 826DC
