Sport Squad, Inc. announces JOOLA Medical initiative to fight COVID-19
Rockville, MD – Sport Squad, Inc. has unveiled JOOLA Medical, a new initiative from the company dedicated to providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to Americans during a time when PPE has become virtually impossible to find. It’s one of a growing number of companies that has pivoted their business model to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
When Sport Squad President Richard Lee was first approached by his sister, Vivian Lee, MD – an anesthesiologist – to help source PPE for frontline healthcare professionals, the US-based company with additional offices located in Brazil, Germany, and China, immediately got to work. Their China office is conveniently located in Shenzhen, one of the major manufacturing hubs of the world.
With a dedicated and experienced global sourcing team, JOOLA Medical has been able to work with manufacturers in China to deliver over half a million face masks to healthcare workers in need, with millions more on the way. As JOOLA Medical continues to support critical frontline workers, the initiative strives to make face masks available to the American public as well.
As part of their effort to help fight the spread, JOOLA Medical is making level 1 face masks available for US consumer purchase in 6-month and 1-year supply quantities. The high-quality face masks they offer meet American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) level 1 standards for use during basic, low-exposure medical procedures. Their most crucial uses are for protecting against visible droplets, absorbing hot air exhaled from the body, and preventing the wearer from touching their face. Prices for the masks start at the individual 6-month supply level and costs $119 for 200 masks.
“Knowing that COVID-19 is spread through droplets, it is imperative that people utilize well-fitted face coverings when they go out in public, including for quick grocery store runs,” said Dr. Vivian Lee. “Even if you are otherwise healthy, you could be an asymptomatic carrier and especially now as we approach allergy season, a pollen-induced sneeze or cough could pose a real threat to public health. Do your part in preventing the spread and make sure your nose and mouth are always covered when you leave your home.”
In an effort to prevent mask hoarding, JOOLA Medical has created a staggered method of delivery for their product. After ordering, customers will receive 1 box per individual (based on package level) for immediate use. The remaining balance is to be delivered to customers within the following 30 days.
“We know that mask hoarding is one of the main reasons it is so difficult for people to find masks right now,” said Richard Lee. “Supply chains just aren’t able to handle that sort of demand all at once. The reason we decided to go with this staggered distribution method is so that we can widely distribute masks to those in need and give our manufacturers time to meet demand.”
