Interview with Pickleball Director Chris Wolfe
We sat down with Pickle & Social’s Pickleball Director Chris Wolfe to get some more insight on the venue:
Tell us about your role at Pickle & Social?
I’m the director of pickleball and instruction; my role is basically everything pickleball from running open plays to managing members to putting on round robins and tournaments. Basically, if it has the word pickleball attached, it’s me. As we work on expanding to other locations, I’ll be helping out with that effort as well.
In your words, how would you best describe Pickle & Social and the overall environment here?
I’d say that we are the most amazing chef-inspired restaurant with craft cocktails, and we happen to have some pickleball courts. Also, with a huge dose of all kinds of fun games from cornhole to ping pong and other backyard games. It’s a place to come and party, have fun, and play some pickleball.
Do you have to be a member, or can you drop in to play pickleball?
Being a member is great as there are added benefits, you can come by in the morning and you’re guaranteed indoor courts if you want to play during inclement weather, for example, but no, with our model you can just come by, get yourself a court and play!
What if I just wanted to come by for a bite to eat and hang out without playing pickleball, is that possible?
Absolutely. Our food here is amazing, we have chef, a sous-chef, we have awesome cocktails, lots of space outside, so definitely a great place to come and hang out!
What kind of pickleball programming do you offer?
We offer a bunch of different programming from instruction to open plays that are skilled out, we have round-robins every Saturday morning, tournaments- we do a lot of different things, but not just on the pickleball side. We also have a lot if programming for other activities, like cornhole for example.
You mentioned before about expanding to other locations?
Yes, we already have a few other target areas that we will be building in, including Alpharetta, GA, which is not too far from here, so very exciting.
Tell us about your partnership with JOOLA.
The partnership with JOOLA is super cool, super exciting! I was sponsored by another brand for quite some time, but when I got a JOOLA paddle in hand, I was super impressed. The paddles are great, and I can’t wait for those new Alpha paddles to make their way over to us! *hint *hint! But in all seriousness, JOOLA has been awesome, we love the people there, and can’t wait to see how the relationship grows in the future.
